About Us at Elegant Ecosystems Permaculture

Picture
Heather Welch founded Elegant Ecosystems Permaculture in response to a rising tide of requests. Many people are excited to grow a portion of their own food as sustainably as possible in the greater Phoenix area, but are new to growing in an arid climate. Others are uncertain how to create a balanced landscape to fit their needs.
Bringing a wealth of practical skill in desert horticulture to your garden projects, Heather is ready to help you boost your green thumb!
Heather received her certification in Permaculture Design in 2007 and her B.S. in Urban Horticulture from ASU in 2012. She has taught gardening, permaculture, and soils classes, as well as written curriculum, for many Valley non-profits, including Phoenix Permaculture Guild/Valley Permaculture Alliance, Arizona Homegrown Solutions, The Watershed Management Group, and Rio Salado Permaculture. Heather also spent 3 years teaching in the Agriculture Dept. at Mesa Community College, and 1 year on the Board of Slow Food Phoenix.
